Breastfeeding
Awareness Month in Georgia
2007
Governor Sonny
Perdue hosted a group of mothers and babies at the Capitol to
inspire citizens to learn more about the health benefits of
breastfeeding and to promote employer support for breastfeeding
mothers in the workforce. Lactation consultants and representatives
of federal, state, and local programs that promote and support
breastfeeding were also on hand as Governor Perdue proclaimed May as
Breastfeeding Awareness Month in Georgia.
“Breastfeeding is
beneficial for both the mother and the child,” said Governor
Perdue. “Breastfeeding promotes bonding between moms and infants,
creating a strong foundation for nurturing family relationships, and
provides an excellent nutritional start for babies.”
