IBLCE
"Scope of Practice"
creates controversy among some IBCLCs
October 26,2006 the International Board of Lactation Consultants Examiners
distributed Scope of Practice in the congratulatory packets to newly
certified/recertified IBCLCs and posted the document on the IBLCE website. The
ILCA Board of Directors issued a
Statement
regarding the "significant substantive and reasonable
objections that have been raised about the Scope’s current wording."

USLCA BOD News: The BOD met for a day and a half at the ILCA conference in July,
working on the foundation building for our organization. BOD members attended
key group meetings and had the first USLCA meeting of members for which over 50
USLCA members attended. On September 14, 2006 the USLCA BOD conducted a
conference call to review our progress. From member input the BOD has agreed
that in 2007 our major focus will be Licensure and Reimbursement issues. The BOD
will have another telephone conference call in October to work on goals related
to this.
