Operating Guidelines

1.
Visitors may attend one free meeting. They must join
when they return to any future meeting. Those joining at the November
meeting will pay $30.00 in dues; and those joining at the February meeting will
pay $20.00 in dues.
2.
Dues will be $35.00 per fiscal year. Board members
will pay dues of $10.00 per year. Those paying their dues by August 31st
will be listed in the SELCA Roster.
3.
A budget will be established annually. Monies will
be allocated in the following order: operating expenses, conference fee
compensations, community outreach, and any other activities deemed appropriate
by the Board. The budget will be presented to the general membership at
the November meeting.
4.
Executive Board
members’ benefits:
a.
A sum of $1000.00 will be set at the beginning of the
fiscal year for Board members to use in attending the ILCA conference, provided
$1000.00 remains in the treasury. It is to be divided as follows:
President will have the core conference fee paid. The remainder of the
money will be divided among the remaining Board members that are attending, with
a maximum of $200.00 per member.
b.
If the President is unable to attend, she will appoint a
designee from the Board to represent SELCA and perform the duties of the
President at the conference. The designee will have her core conference
fee paid.
c.
If an employer, or other, is paying any Board member’s fee
in full, she will not be entitled to a share of the SELCA money.
d.
If, for any reason, a Board member resigns, she is not
eligible for the conference money.
e. A sum of $400 will be designated for use by two Board
Members for attendance at the United States Lactation Consultant Association
Conference.
5.
Speakers
for SELCA meetings:
a.
Non-SELCA members will be given an honorarium of not more
than $100.00 or as approved by the SELCA Board.
b.
SELCA members who present a CERP topic at a SELCA meeting
will receive free SELCA membership for the following year.
6.
CERPS – Effort will be made to provide CERPs at each
quarterly meeting.
7.
Community outreach: The Board will review requests for
funding (must be in writing) to be used for the purposes of supporting lactation
activities. Up to $500.00 will be budgeted for this item as long as monies
are available after other SELCA expenses are covered.
8. In honor of
Amy Spangler's years of dedication and service to breastfeeding families and the
field of Lactation Consulting SELCA has developed a scholarship fund in to be
named the
Amy Spangler Scholarship Fund.
A. Funding: This Fund will be a permanent part of SELCA
to be used for Application Fee for the IBLCE exam. Five percent (5%) of
the SELCA budget will be added to the Fund at the end of each year to
ensure the continuation of the Fund.
B. Requirements: The Scholarship Fund will be awarded on
the basis of fulfilling the requirements outlined in the
Amy Spangler Scholarship Fund Application.
