Black Women Do Breastfeed

The Centers for Disease Control is the go-to for public health stats and strategies.  In 2013, the CDC suggested that that black moms may need more targeted and direct support so that they can not only initiate but also continue breastfeeding.  The gap between black and white breastfeeding initiation rates narrowed from 24 percentage points in 2000 to 16 percentage points in 2008. The 6-month duration gap also narrowed from 21 percentage points to 17 percentage points during that same time.  More and continued targeted support is needed!  This week we’ll discuss some of the strategies that are being employed here in Georgia.  Today, check out some of these resources, and share with us your favorites too!
